Peavey amps are pretty reliable. There is nothing spectacular or unique about their tone, but I do like the Delta Blues with the 15" speaker a lot. Most of the professional musicians I know have used a Peavey at some point in their careers. Try one, you might like them. Their tube amps sound much better than their solid state amps. At this point, I wish I bought a Classic 30 instead of the HRDlx. The Classic 30 is a pretty solid gigable amp.

A lot of Peavey owners swear by the Bandit SS Transtube amp.

Indeed. It's supposed to be a pretty solid amp - good tone, built like a brick.
