ello.
I'v got a Hot Rod Deluxe, and its making a very wierd swirling, farting type noise and my only guess is I need new tubes, but I don't want to get them until I know that it is the tubes making this noise.

(I know its not the speaker making a wierd noise, because its a new one).

Any advise, or questions or whatever?

Thanks.

It very well could be. Tubes are inherently fragile and are occasionally "bad" even when they're first purchased. I would suggest that the $50 or so needed to re-tube your amp is probably a good investment, particularly if you've had it for more than a year. Then I'd suggest swapping tubes individually while playing; this will let you isolate a bad tube -- if that's what the problem is. Just make sure that the amplifier is unplugged whenever you go near its guts. Tube amps carry enough voltage to kill you, so be careful. That said, changing tubes does not need to be done by a pro; you can do it yourself.

I agree with Vulcan it can be the tubes after changing all of the tubes if still is continued noisy find a good tech to look at your amp.

It sounds like tubes. Probably preamp. Does it do it when bright switch is on? Also quit feeding it beans! :D Also the bias may be a little high for your power tubes. I had a similar sound and checked at the test point and bias was a little high. I changed the power tubes and re-checked and bias was dead on without an adjustment. And no more strange noises.
