Hi guys,

I'm starting to think I could be doing with a decent acoustic amp, playing my acoustic through my spider jam sucks. Sucks is perhaps harsh, I'm just looking for the true sound of my guitar. I'm wondering if any of you own an acoustic amp? and can maybe give me the pro's and cons? I would appreciate any advice, thanks in advance.

Hi Snowy! I have one of these and love it. Take a look at the spec section on it too.
http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... 2213100010 There are 2 other smaller versions too. I believe that musicians friend sells this one for 999.00

I hear Roland makes a decent one too but I know nothing about it. Have a good one and take care my friend!!

When I was looking for an acoustic amplifier I tried a number of them and settled on the SWR California Blonde. This was a model of the original design. Later, Fender bought SWR from Steve Rabe. The newer design has some major modifications and production was moved offshore. But it should be on your list of candidates.

SWR is best known for its large family of bass amplifiers.

Rabe went on to found Raven Labs, a maker of high end amplifiers. But he retired in 2005 and the brand died at that time.

I usually run my acoustic through a DI box and into the board, but a few times I've used a Peavey Bandit 65. It's not an acoustic amp per se, but it's a nice clean sounding amp that doesn't add a lot of tonal colour to the signal. This was ideal for my purposes, and once I put in a feedback buster (the rubber soundhole plug) I could crank it up very, very loud without much alteration to the sound.

Thanks very much for all the advice guys, it's taken some time, but I ordered one of these today. I'll check in with you when I get it, I was told it may well be the end of the month.

Thanks Hop,

I'm looking forward to getting it, I was just checking youtube out for some demo's, when I came across this. This dude wrote this tune himself, and he's using the AER Alpha 40w. I thought you might appreciate this, his playing is awesome.

I picked up my new acoustic amp today, I have to say I'm well impressed with this amp from AER. The acoustic sounds amazing through this, I've only been using it for about an hour, but so far it's been fantastic.
