Hello,
This is my first visit to this forum. I am considering getting a SCXD and have read here that there is a question on tube reliability from Fender since they only warrant them for 90 days. Can anyone tell me who would be considered the "best" tube manufacturer and possibly a supplier that carries them? Thanks.

I don't know about best tube manufacturers, try http://www.eurotubes.com/, but I can tell you that my SCXD has been going strong for about nine months now without a problem.

Thanks. Right after I posted that I looked further down the board and saw a recommendation for Musicians Friend. How do you like your amp? I'm not playing with a band, just noodling in my basement and the SCHD looked perfect for me since I wanted to get a tube amp but didn't want to spend a ton. My wife wanted to buy me a Marshall stack by I said no. Right after she said that I woke up

I love playing with it. Most of the time I don't even use my pedals. I just play around with the different channels and effects on the amp and see how they work with different pickup combinations on my strat. I've discovered so many different tones on this amp and on my strat that I'll be occupied with it for a while before I even think of getting anything else.

It is a really nice amp. My friend has one, and when he and I jam, he can usually keep up with my Marshall and normal volumes. It's a really nice amp! Welcome to the Forums! :D

Don't be afraid. Even if you have to replace all 3 tubes, to put in a JJ 12AX7 costs about $10, and the Groove Tubes that came with mine would cost $28 (JJ's would cost $24). And....you will likely not replace any for a year or so (well, maybe the 12AX7, so just buy a spare to start). But by that time you will be loving it to death with the variety of tones for so cheap.

Hi, Im also considering buying the super champ. Im just wondering how loud can it get compared to say, my fender princeton 65 solid state amp? Can it get as loud as a 65w solid state amp?

It can get pretty loud on some channels but not as loud as a 65w princeton. Nope.

Not nearly as loud.

Too get back to the original question...it is all around a wicked amp...I've had mine 4 months with no problems and love it.

If you were to connect a 2x12 cab extension to a super champ xd, would the overall sound be louder than just the 1x10 built in speaker of the super champ xd?

I have a SCXD that I just recently bought off of Craigslist for 220.00 bucks. So I got home with it and just recently when playing I would get some crackling and then I will loose sound a little and then it comes back. The kicker is it does not do it every time. What do y'all think speaker or tubes? I took the back plate off like some have suggested to do on here but it is still messing up. Also I am away from any computer or wireless interference. Any suggestions?

check your tubes,it sound's like a faulty preamp to me,as i have had that happen on a few tube amps, also these amps need to be checked for loose screws in cabinet and speaker!
