I know it sounds a little blasphemous to use a reverb pedal on a Deluxe Reverb, but I'd like more reverb options and I like the sound of the Normal channel, without the 47pf cap and reverb/vibrato bypassed. I don't use the vibrato at all. Actually, I'd like to use a A/B switcher between the two channels. When I wanted some spring reverb, I'd have the real deal with just a foot stomp. Also, I'd have two volumes and two EQ settings I can switch. The idea is from my old band's guitar player. That's what he did. He used a Holy Grail reverb. So, my question is: what is the best reverb pedal out there? There's the EH Holy Grail series, several tube-driven reverb pedals, and a bunch more options. I've looked at Hardwire's RV-7 reverb. It uses Lexicon's reverbs. I've listened to several on proguitarshop.com and that's been very helpful, but I want to hear from you guys that actually own some. Thanks in advance!

Boss makes a nice reverb pedal. Check it out.

You would be hard pressed to do better than those Lexicon verb's in the Hardwire. Digitech's Digiverb is very good as well.

Boss seems to be popular, but IMO (and this is just my opinion based on my ears) they're pretty digital sounding in comarison to the digitech stuff. What a coincidence.

:-)

So forgive me (I'm a Noob Here) how does this reverb unit worked. Is it an amp or is it a head unit. Could you hook this up to say a Super Champ XD?

GTrubee:
It does look like an amp or head, but it's actually just a reverb unit. It is a tube driven reverb tank, with some controls, so it needs an enclosure to house it all. That's why it looks like an amp head. It's the epitome of spring reverb, but I'm looking for several reverb options in one(digital), so I can have studio type reverbs like halls, rooms, plates, etc.

I have Line 6's Verbzilla and I love it. I use it in the exact same capacity as you described - A/B/Y switch leading into both channels of my DRRI; straight into the vibrato channel, and through all of my pedals into the normal channel.

I have nothing but good things to say about this pedal. Versatile, tweakable, and great sounding.

I saw some bad reviews on musiciansfriend and harmony central, but I've never had any noise issues or noticable loss in tone.
