ok, so my current gigging amp, a Fender G-DEC 30, has bit the dust. my tech said it is fizzed out completely. so now I must replace it. here are what I'm looking at:

1. A 1996 USA-made Blues Jr.

2. A '67 Blackface Princeton Reverb (going for about 900 at my local GC)

3. a used reissue of the '65 Princeton Reverb (Going for 690 at my local GC)

4. a used Fender '65 Twin Reverb (Going for 750 on my local Craigslist)

I like the blues Jr, but LOVE the Princetons and Twin due to the vibrato and reverb.

what are your thoughts?

also FYI, I also own a '59 Bassman but cannot gig with it due to its size and the size of the cafes and venues I gig. I do gig with it in the summer months though when I play outdoor festivals and venues.

Please help me out!

Best advice I can give you is to sit down with each and see which one fits your needs/wants better.

I'd go with one of the Princeton's, if you're wanting a smallish amp. Although, you just can't go wrong with a twin. The Twin reverb is one of the best amps ever.

is the twin somewhat light? Another factor is weight and if I could carry it from gig to gig

Yeah, the Twin isn't light. It's a 85 watt 2x12 all-tube tone monster. Huge clean headroom. You won't get it to break up at any reasonable volumes. Alot of people like that it is pristine clean at moderate to high volumes. But, it sounds like a Princeton or Deluxe Reverb Reissue is for you. All the reissues are top of the line. You really can't go wrong with any of them. I'm always quick to recommend the DRRI!

Dont get the 96 blues jr their not very good your gdec is better. I'd opt for the 65 twin or a new blues jr.

I've recently scrapped my 96 bjr in favour of my vibrochamp xd. Perhaps a superchamp may be more suited.

Chanman, check your Yahoo email. I sent you a message on a contact for some amps at real, and I mean real, reasonable prices. Bob

I'd look for a Deluxe Reverb. Either Silverface or the reissue. Gigging with a Princeton will be tough unless you mic it. The Twin is serious loud and heavy.

If the bassman is to much for you gigging then a twin is loader and heavie r. The Blues Jr sounds like what you need to me.
