I just brought home a brand new Princeton Reissue 3/26/2009 today. One of the power tubes? the first on on the left looking from the back glows at least twice as brite as the other two. Is this bad or a resson for cocern?

The filament inside the tube should glow but make sure the metal plate inside the tube is not glowing red. If it is then too much current runs through it. In this case, swap the tube position and see if the problem moves with the tube or not. If it does, bad tube. If the plate glows in the same socket with a different tube then you need a tech to look at it.

Obviously make sure you unplug it before you swap the tubes!

(sorry if this is terribly obvious- we have no idea how new you are to tube amps)!

+1

Also make sure that, if you are unfamiliar with tube amps, that you do not, under any circumstances, go rooting around inside the amp's guts. The capacitors in there carry lethal voltages that can kill you. Other than changing the tubes, which should be done carefully and with the amp unplugged, leave repairs and/or modifications to a professional.

Also, have fun with your HRDx! They're cool amps!
