I was looking at the '59 bassman reissue, but the price is a bit steep. I saw the blues deville, which was described in the ad as a kind of bassman reissue that's updated and tweeked a bit. It's also about 500$ cheaper. Anyone heard both or have any thoughts or comments on the two??

Thanks

59 Bassman hands down. There is just no comparison in tone and build quality.

+1 on the bassman. The blues deville isnt even in the same camp.I just purchased a 59 Bassman Reissue and it has great tone.I took it apart to lacquer the cabinet and couldnt believe the difference in quality of the workmanship. For one ,the tubes arent directly mounted to a circuit board. If i had a choice in getting a brand new deville or a used bassman, i would go with the bassman. The only thing you would be missing is reverb and you could get a pedal if you like.

No contest, the bassman .
The deville amps are not in the same league.

You'll never miss reverb in a great sounding amp. You can add an outboard unit if you need it that bad. In this case, you seriously get what you pay for.

Thanks for the feedback guys... I think I may have picked the wrong one, as I"m not gigging. What if we change the blues deville to the '57 blues deluxe?? So the 1x12 rather than 4x10. Thoughts on that one?? And thanks..

Well, the 57 deluxe is a nice amp , but it is only 12 watts .You will have to mic it probably.Plus they go for around 2k.They also only have volume and tone controls. For that kind of money i would be inclined to go with the Bassman, unless the 45 wayys and 4-10s is too much .

Agreed - and you can through in an attenuator to bring down the volume and still be under $2k.

Sorry guys, I'm having a bad day. I meant the 1x12, 40w Blues deluxe. Ugh.

Find yourself a used 59 bassman for around 800 buck. You won,t be disappointed.

I have been through many a tube amp.
Guess which one I never even think of selling off.

An original 1993 Blues deville + a little compressor pedal = Sweet tones.

Right now in my studio I have a Super Sonic and a 1966 Champ and yet its the deville that is my go to for the best tone.

I will admit I have tweeked her just a bit and have some NOS USA made tubes in there.

Don't sell the Deville short it can be a tone monster !!!!

I have a blues deluxe amp AND a 59 bassman that i just bought used.Dont get me wrong,i like the blues deluxe. I think its a great smp,but the Bassman is in a whole other realm. Its a better amp in regards to the way its constructed And it just sounds tons better as far as tone goes.even at lower settings it just sounds so nice and full.Put a tubescreamer in front of it and its awesome.Alot of people who do alot of gigging complain about the reliability of the deluxes and noone complains about the Bassmans.I highly recommend the bassman. If i had to give one of them up, i would give up the Deluxe.

It's apples and oranges. There is just no comparison. The Bassman is just a killer amp. People tend to defend what they own. I get to borrow one a couple times a month from a very close friend. It's one of thy finest amps Fender currently manufactures. Just read the posts. There is rarely a problem with the Bassman. Anything related to the Hot Rod series is a different story.
