I dug out a load of old speakers earlier to measure their resistance. The 8ohm ones measured between 6.7 to 7.8 ohm. The one 14 ohm measured 9.8 ohm. Its a old fane from the 70's. Is it usuall for a speaker to lose resistance over time?

I would think only deteriorating conductors would cause a loss of impedance. I've seen old Celestions being marked at 16 ohms and measuring around 15 but you seem to have lost much.

Speakers are rated by impedance. DC resistance is going to be different.
