Can anyone please help me ?.

I have a Fender Frontman 212R that I would really like to keep but I am finding that I have to turn the Treble control knob right down back to 1 to get a warm and balanced sound.

I have other fender valve amps, however this is my only solid state amp, so I would like to keep it if i can.

Can anyone give me advise on how to fix this problem. Some one told me to change the speakers to Celestions and that would help sort out the problem, is that true ?.

Cheers.

I just got mine and, yes, it definitely is a mid to treble strong amp. However, it's not anything that's unmusical by any means.

Here's my deal... Went from modeling preamps with high-end stereo power amplifiers and home made cabinets to the FM212R. Bottom line is that I'm in love. Simplicity and just a beautiful tone all around on both the clean and distortted channels so I'm not sure if changing drivers will help.

True, the older the driver the "looser" it will get (which sometimes isn't a bad thing). I went from Celestion Vintage 30's and Classic Lead 80's to the drivers on my new 212R. I'm very impressed with the stock drivers so I would investigate the solid state issues before blowing $160 on Celestions.

Might want to check the tone pot on that treble knob (and might also want to check the others as well). Sounds like you might be sticking a little.

On my desk right now, I have s spray can of CRC Electrical Grade Precision Lubricant. This stuff is made for saturating and cleaning electrical components. Fantastic for pots. In fact, I got my hands on a VERY old Grate G200C mini head that had really nasty issues and this stuff opened everything up beautifully. Spend a couple of bucks on this first and try it out before doing anything else.

God bless.

My Fm212r is about 4-5 years old.The clean channel can rip your head clean off if the treble and mids are past 12 o'clock (especially with the bridge pickup on my tele ,or my buddys SG),but I don't have the same issues with the drive channel.
I have found that a compressor pedal will even the clean channel out a bit and (after a bit of knob fiddling on the pedal) get rid of the painful trebly spikes.
I have a special kind of hate for celestion speakers, they seem to be made to fail at the most inopportune moments possible. They are over-rated. The ones you have just need some hours put on em and they'll sweeten up nicely.

Try an EQ pedal or use a floor board preamp. I have a Frontman 212R I use the Boss GT-6 works great for warming that amp up. Also be careful of the speaker they are only 50 watts 8 ohms. Those speaker will blow out if you peak them.

Good Luck,
