I am desperate. I have a Stage 112 and a BXR. My stage 112 began cutting in and out. I opened it up and found that the inductor had cracked solder joints and the resistor paired w/ it was charred. I replaced the resistor and checked the inductor(it checked fine I think) and resoldered it. So it worked for about 20 minutes, then a pop and a loud hum. Now the thing only hums, no change w/ the controls and no input signal. AND my transformer will begin to smoke if it's on for 30 seconds.

The BXR blew a fuse. I replaced it and an output transistor caught fire. I replaced both of the pair and a diode that had been blown in half. Not one of the black ones, one of the clear ones. Now the BXR has the SAME hum as the 112. I have not left it on long enough to tell if the transformer will begin to smoke.

I have been driving myself nuts for months now. I am new at the repair stuff, but have been learning as much as I can on my own. I have this feeling that the problems are both simple but I am overlooking something. I have tested a TON of stuff and it seems all right. The capacitors seem to test fine(charge up and discharge on the ohmeter). I guess I'll unhook the transformers from their loads and leave them plugged in on a table for a while to see if they get hot. As I understand that would indicate a short internally. But I really don't know if this is the problem.

Any help would be so very much appreciated.
