My SCXD sounds like a compressor/limiter is in use when on Channel #2. Ch #1 does not sound like this as much. Like you can attack the strings hard with little result, as least not like a BJ.
Is this normal?

No, that is not normal. I have a SCXD and it doesn't do anything like that. If you're under warranty I think you should take it back for inspection/repair.

Actually, it is normal. Several of the models have compression as part of the amp model to give a 'sag' that's part of the original amps sound. I hear it most on the tweed voices 1,2,3.

How bad is it? Because I know on mine if I really attack the string even on those channels it makes a noticable difference. 8)

Whether it's bad or not is a matter of personal taste. It is a bit over the top, but gives you that "bloom" of an old Tweed amp. It's probably more objectionable at lower volumes because you might be hitting the strings harder.

I'm not saying that the channel is bad, I play those often, but I think he is saying that there is no diference no matter how he plays the string on those channels. Granted it is not as sharp as the others but there is a difference, at least on my amp anyway, when I really attack the strings. But I play with the volume pretty high too so maybe he just needs to crank it up a little.

Maybe that's what caught my attention: even with aggressive picking the volume didn't increase. Anyway, I'll try more volume tonight and see what happens.
I went by and played another one yesterday and it seemed to sound better than mine. Just more open and less restricted ( In GC no less!).
I appreciate the responses, I 'll go try it now.

I don't notice the compression as much with higher volume, so maybe that's it. I can dime the clean channel and it's not overwhelmingly loud, but ch#2 seems to put out much more volume on some of the settings.

I've noticed the same thing on my SCXD...I agree too that it seems to be a function of low volume. Now I turn the volume up to around 3 and turn it down on my strat, which seems to help (before I had the guitar volume up to about 5 or 6 and the amp at 2 or 2.5). It seems like it is more prone to happen on the more overdriven voices in general...especially on "metal" #13 and #14 (more on the latter). :)
