The Vox VT15 is a great sounding amp that seems to meet your requirements. It sounds great, has mucho modeling, headphone jack, and a power selector (1 - 15 watts IIRC). I just replaced mine with a Blues Jr. because I realized it's tube or bust for me.

He said he needed to play with headphones, how many of the amps listed can use headphones?

I ask because I know you can't with a Blues Jr (wish I could).

I purchased a discontinued Vox Pathfinder 15 Cambridge (the one with a preamp tube). I really liked this amp, but I traded it because if had no reverb, and I bought a Roland Microcube instead. Amazing amp de Roland, it has everything you need for home practice. Very nice clean, crunch, and distortion sounds. There is nothing you can not achieve with this baby.

Recently I bought also a Vox Pathfinder 15R (with reverb), just to compare, and I still prefer the Microcube, allthoug the Vox has that unmistakable Vox sound from de 60´s.
Hope it helps.

+1 on the Valvetronix series. I go all tube since i got my classic 30....but these are some of the best ss amps out there. They are actually hybrids though because they have a tube in the preamp section. Also, all the built in effects are great. The other options i would take would be either the Fender Frontman 15G or the Fender Super champ 600. The frontman is great for low budget and its actually a good sounding amp. The champ is all tube too which is an added bonus. You may not have the value of lets say a tube amp over $1000...but its of nice quality none the less. Good luck searching. The best thing you can do though is try these amps out for yourself.

I would also recommend the GDEC. Hey, if it's good enough for EJ, it's certainly good enough for me! (or you)
