On a Fender Bassman 250 Head, the manual says it's rated at 250 watts at 4 Ohms.

The 410 and 115 cabinets that they sell are rated at 8 Ohms each, so run in parallel they would be 4 Ohms, and would make the perfect stack for the 250 head.

What if I were only running one cabinet? I don't need a full stack for some of the venues I play, but I was wondering what this would do to the head.

Will I get full power out of the head? Will this damage the head in any way?

Any suggestions or answers will be greatly appreciated.

i use a 250HD on top of fenders 4-10-ontop of their 1-15 they are 8 ohms, because of being a combo hav'nt tried them seperated, i would'nt think it would hurt anything.

So I finally got a straight answer from a bass player at a local music store, after trying SEVERAL.

As far as he knows, the 250 head won't push full power into a single 8-ohm cabinet, he was assuming it would be somewhere in the 180-200 watt range. Can anyone on here confirm or refute this claim? Any help would be appreciated.

I was wondering the same thing myself. I too have a 250 with a full stack. I've never used either cab individually with it but it's a piece of information that I don't know the answer to and actually, would be nice to know in case I was in a position where I only needed one.

I've heard that the power to the speakers is reduced but I don't know by how much. I too would be interested to know if there would be any damage to the head by using only one 8 ohm cab.
