The fact that you mentioned you were thinking of the Blues Jr. leads me to believe you may not be looking for an amp with as much power as the Twin Reverb. If that is the case the Deluxe Reverb Reissue is a good bet if you don't need a ton of volume. If you want a little more volume than the DRRI then the next step should be the Super Reverb Reissue, but if you need a lot of volume as everyone said the Twin Reverb reissue is the way to go. IMO any of the blackface reissues will give you a nice sweet clean sound and those are the amps that everyone has recommended in this thread.

True on the Ampeg and I was going to mention one of those but he asked for a Fender  . I was also going mention a 100 watt Hiwatt as well...those'll take the enamel off your teeth.

Speaking of Ampeg, The new J20 is 20 watts and is seriously clean. I tried one in NYC in November. It's hand wired too, no PCB. It's around 800 bucks. It's real bare bones too. It only has Volume. tone and tremolo controls. A seriously sweet amp.

Been 2 1/2 months pj, have you got your amp?

If not and you're still interested, my first questions would be what are you going to do with it and how much do you want to spend?

Wanted a Twin AND a Super Reverb all my life, but for me now it'd be a bit silly. Relegated to home playing.

I switch between and play in parallel through a DRRI and a Blues Jr NOS with a Lehle amp switch pedal. Certainly the Deluxe Reverb is a lot more amp, but it's also considerably more $ than a Bj NOS (the NOS uses a Jensen C12N vice the Fender Special Design (Eminence)).

The DRRI will stay cleaner at greater volumes than the Bj, but again, it's mo $.

And remember an amp doesn't have to be a permanent fixture.

My advice would be to go check them out, get a free t-shirt, and buy as much amp as you can afford.

That right there is the single best piece of advice for buying an amplifier. Play them all, play them loud, play them quiet, and play them lots. Then pick the one that you like best.

And yeah, I'm jonesing for an Ampeg J-20. Those are the sexiest amplifiers I've seen in a long time....

Isn't the Vibro-King a very clean sounding amp? And the Dual Showman with 2 X 12's or 2 X 15s.

My 65' Super Reverb Reissue is the prettiest, cleanest sounding amp Ive ever heard. Pedals also sound the best through it IMO. It Also sounds the best cranked up than any other amp ive ever cranked up. I went through almost every fender, peavey, marshall, and anything else i got a chance to play. I thought all hope was lost until i played one. A Vibroverb is about the only other thing that I like as much as my SR.

Obviously it's not in the same power league as amps suggested here, but the cleanest (not to mention sweetest) Fender tube amp I've ever heard is the re-issued Champ 600 - low input - 11 o'clock.

I have a silverface super reverb and a 59 Bassman ri.The cleans on my super reverb at 3 or lower are sweet sounds for sure, but for tube overdrive sounds, my Bassman beats the crap out of it.Seriously!
