I have a Fender Passport Deluxe PD-500 PA Sysytem and lately when I try to use it, there is this cycling popping sound. No sound other than that from the speakers.

I took it into an authorized Fender Repair shop today and they said the power source is shot! :x This rig is under 2 years old and I've maybe only used it 15 times, (I have a Roland SA-300 stage amp that I use more).

This is a real shock. I am completely bummed! Well, time to roll out the Roland. At least their amps are reliable and they are not increasing their prices through the roof. Wake up Fender.

When you say it makes a "cycling" popping sound do you mean to say it pops continuously or only when power is first supplied? Another question: Does the red protect light illuminate?

Hey BK,

The thing pops constantly. There is no sound in the speakers except for the cycling buzz-pop sound and the red protect light is not illuminated.

The authorized Fender Service tech diagnosed it and said the power source is dead. That is a box within the amp itself. I dropped it off last Monday and I still haven't heard yet what Fender is going to do. Replace or repair it please.

There is a 5 year warranty on this $1,350.00 Fender Passport and the thing blew in under 2 years of light use. People have tube guitar amps from the 60's that still fire up fine. If I depended on this rig for my concerts, I'd be pretty messed up right now. Thanks for your reply though, BK!
