Just changed to a 59 Bassman LTD. Real nice. I was worried that I would miss the reverb from my 65 Twin, but not so far...

I am really liking such a simple amp with no reverb to hide behind.

At the moment I haven't even plugged my tubescreamer in!

Just enjoying the natural sounds of the amp and my 52 Thin Skin Tele...

And yes, I have jad it to 9...

An almost Religious experience...

Who else out there enjoys no 'Verb?
Or as Jim Campilongo says 'Who needs to go to Reverbs anonymous?

Great amp!

Reverb should not be a crutch, it should be used as a tool.
Try to play surf music without reverb! :D
You can always add an external reverb unit if you find you need it at some point !

Yea, aint that the truth.
Just ordered a Lee Jackson Mr Springgy Pedal. Seemingly they come the closest to the Fender sound without buying a reverb tank.
I intend to be tasteful with it though!

True, but I got rid of everything else on my pedalboard. I'm now down to a Fender Bassman and a TS808 (really as a booster with no gain set ala SRV) so I guess I could go for 200 bucks. Better than 800 for a fender tank!
My wife just nipped out to the shops and I just cranked the Bassman to 11...
Then I added the TS808...

Holy Sh**t.

I feel dirty.

I love the TS myself. I know what you mean. Have a second one coming, usually pick them up around $50 and throw in the JRC chip.

Played a Champ 12 for a long time and same thing happened when I bought a simple 5F1 amp. I lose dirty channel and reverb.

But it's so much better to create your own sound with pedals you chose.

Just added a Byiang Fuzz and have another wah coming. In case anyone has heard of Nu Wa.

Any other interesting pedals in the vein of the Tubescreamer you've heard recently?
I wanna know how John Mayer gets his tone at the start of 'Belief' from the Live In LA Album. Best OD Tone I've heard on record for ages, almost bordering on Fuzz but not quite.

A good amp really doesn't need reverb.

Very true, when I do a gig and the amp is cranked, the first thing the sound guy tells me to do is turn down the reverb.
I guess he can control things better when it's dry.

But for playing at home at low levels a little touch of'verb is nice...

I have a 59 bassman RI from 1990 I don,t use reverb either. I love my TS 808 tubescreamer with it and sometimes use my fulltone mini dejavibe and clyde wah for the Robin Trower stuff and can,t say enough about the sound.

TSes is all I use right now. I would like to try their new Tube King, in the line of affordable, non boutique pedals. I also like what BBE makes, like the green screamer or EH English Muffn.

i have a 59 bassman reissue...and usually i play without any pedals...occasionaly i use my maxon od-9 and when i want reverb i use my boss fdr-1...altough the reverb in the fdr-1 has the wierd boinks at times that can be really annoying.

i have thought about picking up a fender reverb tank but with their reputation for being unreliable and now the huge price increase i will pass.

the bassman takes pedals great..but the bassman is such a sweet amp on it's own...as i said most of the time i plug the guitar straight into the bassman.
