Hey guys, new member here.

I've had a Fender Performer 1000 Amp for many years, and recently I've been looking for a manual online so I can figure out a few things with this amp.

Does anyone know the following things?

1. What does the tube in this amp actually do? Is it a pre-amp tube or something else? Is it worth it to switch it out?

2. The two gain channels, which colour (red, amber) correspond to which channel? and which one is supposed to be used for lead?

3. The "body" control on the gain channel, what is the purpose of this?

Thanks in advance!

Perhaps a stupid suggestion but... You might want to search over at the Merry Go Round site. It seems that I've seen a few for sale there. When you find one, call the store and see if they can sus it for you.

hi,, i have 2 performer 1000 combo;s and 1 roc pro 1000 head,,as far as the 12 ax7 tube that is in these amps,,apparently in overdrive mode,, this will assist in fabricating a tube sound,,, and it actually really does a good job of this,,,now the things i have heard ppl say,,, 1 guy said a tech told him to take out the tube,,,apparently that changes the sound too,,,my 1993 i bought brand new,, is great amp,, dependable as all heck,,,i never have had anything at all done to this amp,,, and as i think of it,, i liked it better as time went on,,,possibly blown tube,, but i am assuming its blown,, just because of the time period,,14 years,,, these rigs are highly underratted,,,IMHO fender tried to make these amps be capable of many different sounds,,,, and if you fool around with settings alot,,, it does this quite well. everyone i have pops when you turn it off,,,, inherent to this design i guess,,, once my performer 1000 quit out,,, nothing,,,,,,,,tapped the trble knob everything came back on,,,,possibly loose sodder,,,, alot of ppl claim these amps heat up considerably,{possibly loosing sodder joints,,, i wicked like these amps,,,, loud as all hell,,,,,,,i always run mine with red light on for most distortion,,,,,for the money you can get them for,,,i got 3,, lol ok ROCK ON PPL!!!! dAVE
