To Fender & amp gurus:
I am a very proud owner of the Fender Super-Sonic 1x12 combo. I would like to experiment with different power tubes and I am wondering if simply biasing with the "by ear" method is safe for this amp. Two observations lead me to believe that it is:

- The bias trim pot looks to be "locked" in the sense that I can only turn and play with it for 3/4 of a turn. This may have been done to keep the bias "in the safe zone".

- There is no bias test point that I could find.

Regards,

Tweed Dog Steve

Some people do bias by ear. I wouldn't recommend it. You could really shorten the life of the tubes if it's too hot and possibly even damage the amp.
Take it to a tech, and let him measure the voltage while you try it out.
