Just got a Super Champ XD and it's great! Whe I first turned it on new out of the box it made a few crackling/snapping sounds. I had all knobs at zero and beleive the little noises came from the amp head area and not from the speaker. I notified MF where I bought it and they said it might need some time to wear in. I've been playing it allmost every day for 6 days a few hours and haven't heard that noise again. However, I've noticed a few times it will make a very quite squeeling noise from the amp head area. It did it again today after being on for 10 minutes of playing and a few channel and fx on/off switching via the foot switch # 0071359000 and included cable. While it acted up I turned all the knobs to zero and switched between channels a few times but the noise did not seem to be affected by my switching or knob positions. I hope I don't have to send it back. The noise is very quite and goes away after afew minutes. Is this a big concern or defect?
Thanks

Add-on; I gently tapped on the tubes with the side of a pencil while all knobs around 5 and no microphonics heard.
Anyone got any clues for me. I like this amp and really hope I don't have to send it back to Musicians Fiend. BTW, this is my first "new" tupe amp. All others I bought used.

Welcome to the forum. If your amp is near a computer, or if your wearing a cell phone on your belt it could be picking up signals from those items. I have a Blues Jr. and was having the same noises coming from the amp. Also, make sure the tubes are seated correctly cause if they shifted during transportation or moving it around in the hosue that could cause static too.

My Blackberry is o my desk only about 18" away from the top left corner of the amp. And we have wireless internet throughout the house. My computer is wires to the modem and sits only a few feet away from the amp.
My 68/69 Vibro Champ is often in this same location and I never noticed the mice in it! It's a noise little thing though with quite a bit of internal static noise. :P

Try pulling the tubes and putting them back in. Sometimes, they'll get a little loose in shipping.

A few months ago I had a real mouse. I guess he was trying to warm up...He did. I cranked that twin Reverb to about 6 and played some nasty stuff for about an hour. When he came out he was moving kinda slow and was disoriented. He left the premisses shortly after than and hasn't been seen since. 8)

I used to use mine close to flat out way back with a 4x12 cab and control the volume with my guitar, mostly at outdoor festivals years ago. Now I only run it around 3-4.
I'm paying for it now with Tinnitus in both ears. Be careful with your hearing.

I normally keep the volume on 3 or 4 as well as use the guitar volume controls. The room I play in is (basement) 40' by 50' with some household junk to absorb some of the sound.

I do value my hearing. I would rather go blind than lose my hearing.
