I own a Crate Taxi-30 and a Limo-50. The former is a better product in my estimation.

I've just auditioned the new Roland RX and it seems to have great potential in terms of features and tone.

It seems to me that Fender has the know-how to produce a killer portable amp better than that sad 'can' they offer and beat Crate and Roland at their own game.

Any thoughts??

Doc

Yeah I'm kind of surprised thay don't make a decent battery powered amp. If you look at Roland (with their Microcube, Vox with the DA5, Line6 with the Microspider) all are very well featured battery powered amps with modelling and effects.

C'mon Fender. How about a mini Hotrod deville - 5 screaming watts of grunt coming out of a little tweed covered unit?

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I was thinking more on the order of a 30-50 watt unit with the quality of this new Roland. I have no doubt that they could do it.

Hello Doc,

Recently had a power failure
here at the fort and with no
playable acoustic guitar, well---

The search began, I had fun
with a few amps but as yet
haven't mede a purchase.

That little Amp can was great
but didn't take regular batteries,
So, not power failure friendly.
Pretty sure it's no longer made.
Hopefully Fender will fill this void
with a more practicle product.

Maybe the Easter Bunny will
put something in my basket.

Cheers.

[quote="Mr Bill"]Hello Doc,

There are two channels on the Crate Limo. For some reason one of the channels sounds very 'plinky' running a Strat through it. I thought it was the amp, but I ran it through another out of the box, with the same result.

Have you auditioned that new Roland? t's got a great sound for the price and runs on'penlite'batteries not a rechargeable. If Fender could duplicate that in 50 watts, that would be a great product, even with an onboard recharger.

Hey Doc,

My brother-in-law got the Roland Street
at a presidents day sale, paid about
$240 for it, and it's a lot of amp.

I got a feeling Fender has got
something in R&D, what with
today's varied lifestlyes &
guitar playng anywhere.

Cheers.

I'm waiting patiently on Fender. Fortunately I'm in no rush.

Thanks for the feedback.

Doc

That would be awesome. I hate having to set up my Blues Deluxe all the time. I'd love a little 5 watt tube practice amp.

30-50 Watts ala Crate would be better.

I really like the Vox Ampplug. A Fender version would be totally cool!
