Hi! I have a HRD Limited Edition Wine red with Celestion G12P80 and the tubes are printed in red color. I think diferent version of this amp have diferent color GT tubes, which means diferent distortion rates:
Groove Tubes use a special process to categorically rate all their tubes so that players can select the tubes that best fit their preferred tones and styles. Here is a brief description.

RATING 1 to 3: Offers an early and wide range of distortion and a softer attack. These tubes are great for Rock and Blues solos.

RATING 4 to 7: Our normal performance tube rating. It's the best all around rating for all types of playing.

RATING 8 to 10: GT's most dynamic, most clean power rating. These tubes are good for power players, Jazz, and bass amps.

Can anyone confirm which color codes have the tubes in different HRD LE models?

HRD Limited Edition Wine Red (celestion G12P80): red color GT tubes
HRD Limited Edition White (celestion century vintage): blue tubes
HRD Limited Edition Texas red (ceslestion V30): red tubes
HRD standar Black (eminence): white tubes.

HRD Limited Edition Emerald Green (celestion G12P80):???
BHRD Limited Edition Blue (ceslestion V30): ???
Thanks in advance.

The color code on the groovetube tube states its biasing.
If you get a different color dot tube, you need to have the amp re-biased by a tech.
Same happens if you go to a different brand tube, you should have the amp re-biased to match them.

(this only applies to the power tubes, the preamp tubes have no such requirement)

And Groove Tubes (which are just re branded SovTec's) are not the best of tubes to use,
reliable but not very musical, try a pair of JJ/Teslas if you really want to switch.

You should always have the bias checked. It does drift over time and effect your tone. You can do a lot better than Groove Tubes.

My 2007 HRD Texas Red came with Groove Tubes white labels.

You can also do worse than Groove Tubes.
There's alot of conjecture back and forth about tubes, which ones sound best, last longest, yadda yadda yadda. Even among true experts there's seldom absolute agreement. I despise Winged C tubes, but know a couple people who swear by them. I like JJ's but our other axe-man destests them. I put Mesa/Boogie tubes in my Hot Rod and re-biased it. Sounds better (to me) than in did with GT's. I'm happy.
