I have borrowed a Fender Super 210 amp which I'm considering purchasing. I like the warm bluesy sound, but am a bit scared to turn it up in a small apartment. I'm just wondering if anybody has had experience with this amp. How much should I pay? (it's in mint condition). Are there any problems with these amps? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Bb.

I have one and I typically run it at around 2 - 3 in my condo. I'd guess it would be quite loud (65W tube) if I really cranked it. But even at lower volume, mine delivers a great tone ... I got it as a less expensive alternative (and lighter) to a 65 Twin reissue.

I recall paying about $700 for mine but I'd have to check that - it was 2 years ago and I'm not at home where I could look. It was in mint condition and I got it from Bernunzio's Vintage Guitars in Rochester, NY. It was sold "as is" and they knew nothing of the history but I'd had a chance to try it for as long as I wanted before buying. At the time, I did a Web search and their price was comparable to the couple others I found being sold.

That was two years ago and so far, no problem except that I had a bad tube from driving it back across the country. I ened up with some serious hum, but a retube solved that. Probably not a bad idea anyway since the store had no idea how long the tubes it arrived with had been in there.

I haven't been hauling it around since nor have I played out with it, so I can't say how it would hold up like that. However, my past experience with other Fender amps has been positive and the construction on this one looks good.

Unfortunately, there's very little info on them at all, so I'd also be interested in other owners' experiences.

One other thing you can do -- Fender still has the manuals for these in case you want to spend the $10 to write for one. There's no on line manual I could find anywhere.

Yeah Phil, info on the 210 is pretty scarce. I used to jam with a dude years ago who played his Strat through a SUPER 112, Which I guess is a single 12 inch version. His sound was incredible, mind you, he was a great player with an SRV. The owner of the 210 wants a grand (Australian),so it seems like a bargain. As I said, it's in perfect condition. No wear, no ingrained dirt, no discoloration on the tubes, which he claims are original. I don't think it's had much use. I think these amps were intended to emulate the old fender tubies, but with solid state circuitry, eliminate a lot of the hassles. That's about as far as my technical knowledge goes. Thanks for your reply Phil. Hopefully someone out there can enlighten us both. CHEERS MATE.
