I have a fender Hot Rod Deluxe in my basement, and have always noticed it to be a more bluesy tone (i know it is supposed to be), and was wondering if there is anything i can do to get a more "Alternative" sound.

Where i am, i am not near my Mesa Amp so i have to use my other amp.

I have thought about maybe using a tube screamer to achieve this but haven't tried that yet.

Basically i am wondering if anyone has any settings they use or pedals they are trying to get a more Alternative/rock-y sound with the Deluxe

Looking for something like the sound of Blink 182 or something in that genre

Thanks

It rocks if you take time to use drive channel with adjusting properly the EQ!

it rocks because of it's wonderfull clean channel :)

and if you want more grin and gain use your favorite fuzz, ditortion effect in front of it!

period.

Hard core metal... not really.
Classic rock, abso-freaking-lutely!
And good pedals in front of a nice sounding clean amp, like the Hot Rod, can turn it into a monster.
You don't need 100 watts to rock out. With the quality of sound reinforcement these days alot of guys are using lower powered amps on stage to keep the volume down. Mic 'em thru the PA to deafen the audience, not yourselves! Hearing loss sucks...
who said that??

Not that anyone's suggesting the Hot Rod is ever too quiet, I'm sure

I have the Hot Rod Deluxe, but I use it for blues and rock.

I have the DeVille 410 and play pretty hard rock on it just using the drive channel most of the time and if I want to push it I have an original Marshall Guv'nor and a Little Big Muff.....

Bit o' tweaking and these amps can do anything!

Hi all,

I was wondering if there is anyway to keep this amp from distorting at volume level 3-4 after an hour or so.

I'm in a blues band so it makes sense to own a HRDx, but I can't stand it to break-up. The white label GT tubes are in it, so I'm not sure if those are rated to break-up fast but either way I don't like it.

If any one can help I'd truly appreciate it. And yes, I already tried going through the #2 input jack, nothing helps.

I have a Blues Deluxe Reissue, and I can get a great alternative alternative sound. It's basically the same amp as the Hot Rod. I normally just play it on the clean channel with a Fulltone OCD, and then if I want a little more gain, I just turn on the overdrive channel. It might sound a little different on the Hot Rod, seeing as you have 2 overdrive channels, and I only have one, but you should try it out.

Get a super reverb or a twin.I believe the white tubes give you the most headroom.3-4 seems kind of early.Maybe the tubes need replaced.
