I played a Junior last night for awhile...I really liked the tones I could get from it. I play a tele, so I used one in the store that's the same model I have. Seems to sound really good with the tele.

I then made the mistake of playing it with the Strat 62 Reissue, it reminded me that I would like to get on of those as well. Unfortunately, Fender picked a bad time to raise prices...I guess they aren't aware of the economic situation in this country.

If you can, take your time. I tried the TT, it's loud, but doesn't have a ton of headroom. It's a total classic rock machine. Vox amps are really nice. If you can, wait to try one. Try other stuff too.

It's funny, but I really liked the VOX until I A/B'd it with the Tiny Terror.

Neither is really like the Blues Junior tho'...I'll probably go play the VOX and BJ again this weekend.

I'm not in a super rush...

I have to tell ya, the guy at my local music store really likes the Blackhearts. They seem to be very one-dimensional. I'm not sure why they are touted by so many people as great sounding amps, unless it's just the price point. They really don't compare to the Blues Junior's versatility...or the VOX or TT for that matter

Depends on your taste, and like everyone said, try them all. I had the same choice to make a few months aga, i was torn between the VOX, the Tiny Terror and the Blues Junior. The Vox, i found that the clean tone when the volume was up, sounded distorted a bit, or not as clean as i wish. The Tiny Terror is expensive, and the tone wasn't that great for the price. I went with the Blues Junior, nice tone, nice price and nice clean tone. But for some wierd reason i keep having problems with it since i bought it new.

Reliability has become a huge factor for me. My HRdlx has been a total dog. That's why I'm either looking at the Ampeg, Egnater or possibly Mission Amps 5e3 clone kit. I borrow one from time to time and the 5e3 is hands down the most organic and dynamic amp circuit out there. It's only between 13-15 watts, but they're incredible amps. If you're decent with a soldering iron the 5e3 seems like a fairly easy build. The instructions from Mission are supposedly step by step. The kits are about 700 bucks plus shipping.

Yeah...I know the TT and BJ are completely different...I want one of each.

My main hesitation with the TT is price. It's pretty expensive, although not in the realm of Mesa. Also, I'm anxious to hear the VOX AC4TV. It's 4W and attenuates down to 1W and 1/2 or 1/4W. For me, that might provide some British sound.

I'm likely going to get a Blues Jr. and wait to hear the VOX.

I'm also wondering if I should pick up a used one and put a Swamp Thang in it rather than buy the NOS.

You need these people, far better than vox's past or present offerings and they will build to your spec's.

Stock their still not cheap but do have a full lifetime warranty. Im selling my blues jr and 59watkins to buy one.

Thanks for all of the suggestions!

I spent 3 or 4 hours in GC last weekend and played everything again and again and again. I liked the DRRI the best with the PRRI in a very close second. There is just something about these amps that appeal to me. I spent a lot of time on the SCXD, and think it's a great amp, but I didn't feel it. Neat amp, though!

I'm likely going to try out the new Deluxe VM this weekend to see how that stacks up. Then it's time to put some money down... finally!

Another amp that surprised me was the Egnater Rebel 20. I think it sounded great, but it didn't "speak" to me like the DRRI or PRRI.

Thanks again!
Joe

The only problem with the Princeton is it can't get over a drummer without a mic, plus the price is pretty close to the DRRI which IMHO is a way more versatile and gigable amp if the need ever arises. I tried the VM Bandmaster and was really disappointed, I hope the Deluxe is better. It had no character and the effects sounded too digital especially the reverb. I would hold off on the VM's to see how reliable they are. I may be wrong, but my understanding is they're made in China. Two people on the forum already said the grills fell off in the shipping box.

That's my problem with the PRRI, too. Not that I gig, but you never know when a situation would arise. The tone on the PRRI is fantastic, though.

I'm really leaning towards the DRRI.

Dang, I had high hopes for the deluxe vm. I doubt the sound is that different than the Bandmaster. I still may give it a try if I can find one.

I'd go with the DRRI. It's a rock solid amp with a good track record. The VM series is just too new. The 59 Bassman is great too.
