I'm going to try tapping them again tonight and see if I get the same 'microphonics'.
I have taken the tubes out and put them back in, but it didn't do anything. Maybe I need to clean the prongs off. That is something I'll try tonight also.

Thanks for your help and the great tips.

Keep us updated. That would help if you had extra tubes :), maybe the local tech shop can throw some in real quick.

I'll let you know how I make out with these tests tonight. Thanks for your troubleshooting recommendations.

On the original topic ....

I just got a reverb pedal for my PJ and am loving it. It's only one of those little Danelectro minis (the Corned Beef), but I think it adds a great "spice" to the mix. You can go from just filling out your sound all the way up to mega-surf. Since the PJ doesn't have a reverb pedal, it's definitely something to look into.

Well, I finally got around to testing my Pro Jr. out for the rattle. It was still there (sounds like filament in a broken lightbulb). I can't figure out what it is. I did the 'tap test' tonight after I played the amp at a pretty loud volume for 45 minutes. I think it revealed that the two 12ax7 tubes were 'microphonic'. I need to take it to a qualified professional to make a final determination since I am obviously over my head here.
