Hey POG!

I was searching the same answer as you do.. Sometimes my Hot Rod - DeVille 2x12 amp hisses on clean channel. Sounds like an air plane or washing machine running far far away, but I can clearly hear it.

It hisses and it stops then again repeats this after a while. At first, I thought that the ground cause this. But I play lots of different clubs and no changes about hissing..

So, any technician from Fender or any user know anything about this?

N.

Lets back track a little. I own a Fender Hot Rod Deville 410 & hissing is not an issue even cranked to seven w/ 2 emgs. Clean, bright & all balls. Your settings on the face should have no bearing regarding the hissing sound. Verify all your cables are the correct cable for the signals to be sent from point A to point B. Are you using a speaker cable possibly between pedals as opposed to an instrument cable? Are your soldered cable terminals in good condition? Check the physical condition of your power cord for cracks or exposed wires. If your amp is used, consider tube replacement with a new Duet 6L6 GC Mesa STR 440 Power Tube & 3 Groove Tube Preamp 12AX-7 R Select tubes. This cost is about $80.00 at your local Guitar Center. Your amp settings will need to be biased once you install any new tubes other than what is currently in your amp now.You will notice the difference once the bias settings are adjusted, so get in, sit down, shut up & hold on.Contrary to Fenders manual the amp is not a fixed bias. When you find the right amp guru to bias your amp, explain your issue with the hissing sound if it is still an issue. The amp tech is your best friend so listen & learn. Tube life is short lived so get use to the yearly investment. AMF ,KYF. PS Check the soldered connections on your guitar jack.

kethamatthews,

Thanks for your interest but, it didin't help. You didn't offer anything that I don' t know. Besides, I am a sound engineer. All my tubes replaced with the new ones a couple of months ago. The amp is 1,5 years old. And no cables connected input or any pedals hooked. If you read correctly the post before, you will understand ''the sound'' is more than hissing. I mentioned as airplane or screaming noise.

So, we need a Fender technician or an experienced user on same issue. But, thanks anyway.

N.

Well, i'm POG , from Italy, & I am a pro.
My PRACTICALLY NEW WITH NEW VALVES & NEW ALL, hiss ( on the clean channell every time, & not the reverse.
It make the exactly noise of a little hole on a tube for the compressed air. (Just like in a old garage etc.).
I've open this topic (my first one here) just to know if this is normal on the majority of this amp.
And If not the maybe-help from somewhere, or etc.

(There are possibilities of a response from somene PRO & inside the factory?)

But, anyway, don't take it too hard please
It's just rock,n'roll
Nevermind
GoodLuck & best of all good music _:)

Tubes can be bad even when new. It could be a preamp tube. Tube amps hiss, but not seriously loud. It makes no difference how new it is. Almost every Groove Tube I've ever used has hissed like a Cobra, failed early or rattled. Could just be my luck.
Pog, if it's hissing, it's not clean or beautiful.
Take a pencil with an eraser on it, lightly tap each tube, if the hiss stops, changes or gets louder, it's bad. Change it. Otherwise take it to a good Tech. It could be a bad filter cap, or power supply cap. I'm a semi retired professional musician and have 40 years experience playing tube amps.
A good tech will save you time and money.

One month ago I' ve re-changed all of the tubes with the brand new ones. Problem solved! No more hissing.

Thank you all for the inputs,

Best wishes.

Noyan.

Also it's worth noting that most tube amps are a little bit noisy. It can be really infuriating when you're playing at home and not surrounded by ambient noise. In virtually every gigging situation, however, the noise is simply not noticeable. Indeed, if your hissing is sporadic, I would check to make sure you're not close to fluorescent lights or computer monitors -- they are all too often the culprits.
