I keep my Princeton RI on 10 and work the guitar's volume knob.
I keep my Atomic 118 on 5 and use pedals to vary the volume.

At small gigs with Deluxe Reverb and Strat/Tele, I keep it at about 5, just at the breakup point and adjust the volume on the guitar. :)

Between 7-8 on 5F1. Guitar volume knob usually between 5 to 7. Play in a relatively small room in the house.

Yep, you beat me to it!

I keep mine at 5, but I live in a condo and the amp currently in use is a Vibro Champ XD. I'll usually adjust the guitar volume rather than the amp's.

2 - 3 on the SCXD and the Super 210. I have a Line6 where I usually have the channel volumes set at 5 - 6 and the Master at about 2.

On the Bassman, the volume is at around 8 - 9 with the Master down around 2. I find that I get a lot better sound by driving the preamp stages hard on the 210/250 (and to give credit where due, that's a suggestion in the manual).

Remembering way back to playing days (late 60s through mid 70s), I used a Bassman 50W for guitar and I ran that at around 6 - 7. (Mic'ed it for larger venues.)

If I'm playing at home, which is mostly where I play, I keep the amp volume between 2 and 3 whether its my PRRI or my TRRI. I keep the guitar volume knob at max or a little lower.

I keep mine on the amp's they came with.
Usually on the post from the volume pot.

Ba-da-bam.

I can see no 1 right answer, you set them to fit the environment you are in.

Kinda depends, if it's a tube amp with a channel volume I will crank the channel volume and gain and then usually keep the master volume about half, or less if I can get away with it. The amp I play out of at home is a line 6 spider II 2x12. I keep it only about half really.. It doesn't matter what I do with that amp it sounds like poop anyway.

I keep it as loud as I can before people start yelling at me about their blasted ears.

In my bedroom, 1 or 2. (I have a pet lizard, and I don't want to scare him.) And even 2 on my Deluxe VM rattles the windows.

In band practice and at gigs, 4 or 5. Sometimes I sneak back and turn it to six when the sound guy isn't looking. :P For solos I hit the overdrive.
