Hello all,
I just wonder if some of you have a good fix for amp humming.
I have a fender 65 deluxe reverb and I'm playing a relic 56 strat on it. The amp has a very nice sound...but. every time I take my fingers off the strings I get this humming sound....if I turn the guitar volume down close to zero it goes away no humming at all....I have also found out that it also respond quite much to my position relative to the amp. Its a real pity...what do you folks normally do to fix this....or don't you do anything with it. I know it has to do with the single coil on my guitar it act as a radio receiver.
Thanks.

Yep. What you said is exactly right. You are experiencing the 60 cycle hum that goes along with playing single coils. You can get a "Noiseless" single coil pickup. Or, you could get a stacked humbucker, which I DON'T recommend for a Strat. I really like my Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups(great authentic single coil tone, but are dead quiet). These pickups are not "true" single coils, and they are sometimes shunned by the extreme purists, who would rather deal with the 60Hz hum. I really can't hear any difference. My Hwy One with the VN pickups has those classic Strat tones nailed. Good luck, and I hope this sheds a little light on the issue for you.

in the very rare case that you actually find out that the noise is coming from your amp I recommend to buy a UPS box which will ground perfectly the AC and anything you connect to it will have flawless AC :)

Thanks for answer.
I think its a pity to change the original reliced pickup on my guitar ( I have payed a lot to get these humming pickups), so the option of getting a device to plug into reducing the hum sounds more attractive to me. You mention an UPS box,.. any suggestion where to order that on the net?
again thanks !

UPS. You can get one at newegg.com tigerdirect.com...best buy, target, walmart. You shouldn't need the real expensive one, as you are just paying for the battery time at that point.

It hums cause it don't know the words :D Ba-da-bam :D Sorry couldn't resist.

Do you have any Florescent or CFL lights around (or dimmer switches) they throw a lot of interference noise out.

You could also check under you pick guard to see it the guitar cavity has shielding, that is a fairly easy fix if it does not.

Tried out my new amp further today....If I plug into a wall outlet with earth, the problem nearly goes away...but its very sensitive, if I stand to the right of the amp it's less humming than standing on the left ....but after all, so far this amp is the best sounding amp I've ever had.
Thanks to everybody on this forum I'm very happy to be part of this community

Yeah thats good, however wall outlets, most of them anyway, are not properly 100% grounded, thats why recording studios and huge enterprises have to invest a lot of money in their electric installations... that ups box will help you .... you can get them in several places online one for example.....

I have a bigger one than that because I connect a lot of things to it.. however the size is up to your needs..
