Hi to all,

New to the Fender amp family. Purchased mine from a Fender dealer in CT. Drove 120 miles to collect it, great price, great sound. When I got it home, I plug in to the clean channel, sounded great, presets for rockabilly, was awesome.

When I did the same on the bright channel, I got hiss, and when contact is first made on the strings or any metal on the guitar there is a snap (sort of tick tick tick) whenever there is skin to metal contact. Once I am playing the snap goes away, but if remove my hands and place them again...same thing. Regardless of which guitar I play (have tried it with all my guitars) it happens.

I am not gettting this from my Marshall JTM45, or my Crate V18 112 amps.
Trying to enjoy the Bassman, but thus far I am frustrated.

Any advice? Is there something I need to do? Could it just be static electricity from the cold weather, the dry house? Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Georges

hi
i have a 59 bassman ltd also .to me of little knowledge it sounds like
static electricity. synthetics carpeting clothes etc will do that.when i go to touch the thermostat for the heat sometimes its strong enough to arc about 3/8 of an inch.
i once asked for settings to my bassman on this forum as i bought mine used and didnt get any responses it seems they are only concerned with
blues jr.s or hrdlx.
oh yeah great sounding amp !

Thanks Shrek, I thought about the static build up during the winter as well. I guess I will just have to see what happens when it warms up.
And you are right, a great sounding amp...if I could just get it past 4, I will be able to hear it break up some and get that natural tube overdrive.

hey you guys...nice to see there are at least 3 of us with the Bassman amp.

I love mine. running a American Deluxe strat HSS through it...beautiful.

I also use a Vox ToneLabe LE with it to add some reverb and a few other effects when needed. They work well together.

By the way, if it is just static...take a fabric softner sheet (like ya throw in the dryer) and rub it on the pick guard and that should solve that problem. Usually last 2 or 3 days, then rub it down again.

GuitarGeorges- I don’t have the 59 Bassman (bought a Super Reverb last year); but, there was someone that listed this link in one of the amp posts.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SRV_amps

I have tried many settings (even from the Fender YouTube site and never found any I liked better than SRV’s. I even bought some of the effects and used the settings listed in this link.

I hope this helps.
