Well now that I'm going to have two amps (Peavey Classic 30 and Fender Deluxe VM) I'd like to experiment with mixing them together. I guess I'd have to buy something, or make something. What's my cheapest option?

There are several ways:

some pedals have 2 outputs, like my Fender PT-100 Tuner.

Or you could get a ABY switch, like:

http://www.zzounds.com/item--MLYABY

Morley ABY Selector Combiner Pedal - $54.95

Route one signal to 2 outputs or 2 inputs to one output. Then choose A, B, or A & B combined. LEDs show you which signal is active. One 9-volt battery is required for LED indication. 2-year warranty.

So I could plug two guitars into one amp too? That would actually be fairly useful. I'll also check the outputs on my Boss TU-2. I think one is true bypass and one isn't. Would that still work?

I have a Digitech Digital Delay pedal with two outputs, a mono output, and a second stereo output. Last night I was experimenting with a vintage Twin-Reverb and a new Super Champ XD. I feel like this combo is much better than having just the one amp. Plus, with the delay pedal, you can ping-pong between amps, really cool.
I often wondered if I could simply put a line out cord from the super champ into the "instrument in" input of the Twin-Reverb. I was worried about possibly blowing something, so that is why I haven't tried it yet. The pedal seemed to do the trick though.

Yes about the 2 guitars into 1 amp. But you can only use the box one way at a time (of course).

The Boss TU-2 is like my Fender PT-100, one output is muted when you turn on the tuner, so you can't hear your tuning. The other output is always "on", ie, it is a pedal bypass, so it doesn't get muted when you're tuning. If you use this output, you would be heard while tuning - no big deal. Many major artists just tune - never mute themselves - it's your call. But using that extra output, it lets you drive 2 amps with 1 guitar for "free".

I'm pretty sure that the Line Out would have a signal level that would be too high for a Guitar input on an amp, ie, it would overdrive or distort badly. It would work fine going into the Line In or Pre-amp In (Effects Return) on some amps.

Thanks Gil, that's kind of what I had figured. I'll just use the pedal for now.

Get a splitter and you can use both at the same time together or in stereo if you have a multi effects processor

I use a stereo chorus to split my signal into two outs, for when I want to use two amps..
Usually split it for input into the Boss RT-20, the rotating effects sounds much better with a stereo signal and two amps :)
