Ouch, I was thinking of getting one last month, but I just don't know now. Why such a large price increase now, especially with the economy. Seems like blues juniors were 399.00 only 3 years ago...

I know some will say because of the current economy, they raised the prices to meet costs. But people just aren't out buying high ticket items right now, I don't think thats the best business decision right now.

I work for a major auto manufacturer and can tell you we have about 5,000 vehicles just sitting on the lot waiting for dealers to request them, and I'm at only one facility.

At least used blues juniors can be had pretty reasonable for now...

Here in Australia you're lucky if you can get a Pro Junior for that price. But yeah all prices have been jacked up here too. Even moreso with exchange rate fluctuations. The price of my Tele went up by about 200 bucks the week after I bought it!

Hello Campfirehero,

After playing on blues Jr's for years,
I finally pulled the trigger about 18 months ago.
This little amp has never given me a problem other than
when people play through it they wanna but it from me.
I'm glad I got it when I did, at $599 now WOW.
I guess the market will bear it.

Cheers.

Seems that Fender has about a $100 dollar increase on their products every year. I bought a Hot Rod Deluxe amp about a year ago, for $600, and already it's about about $100 or so. Bet their sales go down soon with the prices and the economy.....people can't buy, if they don't have the money with the economy and all.......no matter how bad they want it. Think about it.......all the businesses that folded just recently....... Heck...people are now cutting back on everything. Guitars are just not a necessity at this moment.

I bought one about a month ago. It was going for $ 479 but Sam Ash was running a deal with $100 off on any item over $399 so I got it for $379.

If the economy keeps going the way it's going, you'll see an effect called deflation where things will get cheaper, the problem is none of us may have jobs to buy anything with.

This is a really bad time for a price increase.

Use whatever reasoning you might like but if people were not buying at the old prices they certainly won't be buying at the NEW prices.

I understand how people feel about price increases but people must understand what it takes to remain in bussiness. If fender don,t make money on what they sell they go out of business. They have a profit margin that must be met or by by. Good products cost good money and the Blues Jr is a very good product. Fender has less expensive good amps to. As the economy gets worse the price will increase and they will make less because they will sell less but the will make money on the product and stay in business. Its a $@!&* but thats the way it goes.

Maybe so, but as the price increases the fewer people will be buying anything.
And I mean anything, peoples priorities have changed in the new version of the economy and cutting back on non essentials has become the norm.
Especially as good jobs are becoming harder to find and keep.
It is become a self fulfilling prophesy of doom.

The BJ is 680$cdn here now and the BD is 980$cdn..
Not long ago they were 460$cdn and 699$cdn.
G-Dec30 is closing with 500$cdn.

No more GAS here, I bought a carton of strings that will do me a couple of years and won't even be visiting the stores in the near future anymore (to prevent accidental GAS) ..
Will be happy with what I got, at least till I win the lottery. :)
