I have recently purchased an older Fender Twin Amp. It has one of the cleanest sounds I've heard. But the channel 2 gain section is hard to figure out. I can't seem to get anywhere. If anyone out there owns one and can help me with this and other questions I have. Please help. :?

I have a '73 Twin-Reverb and love it. Does yours have the master volume with the second volume knob? If you put the master volume at 10, you can use the second volume knob as a type of gain. You can also pull out the master volume knob for a slight gain. What other questions do you have?

I have the '88 reissue of the '65 Twin. I have the Normal Channel, and the Vibrato channel. I use the Vibrato channel, but keep the reverb and vibrato turned off. The Vibrato channel appears to have a few decibels of extra gain with or without the Reverb/Vibrato being used. I also use the bright switch. It helps me push the high end for that extra "scream." I turn the Treble knob down a bit to avoid squealing or having too much high end. With those little bits, I've achieved quite a powerful sound for metal. I use a Boss processor, but that's solely for effects. The presence, drive and push all come from my baby...named Mabel! Putting a Vintage Bassman 50 from the 70's (I forget which year) as a bottom cabinet is an amazing addition that dredges up the low end and warms the whole tone up nicely!

I'd like to thank all of you for helping me. I located a PDF on the net, It has almost all the answers I was looking for except the footswitch. It came with a 2 button footswitch that has Channel Select and Chorus on/off. The latter works has a Reverb on/ off switch. I am almost sure it needs a 4 button switch . The same one used on the current Twins. Is this correct ?
