Hi there. I am wondering what type of bass amp I should go with to create the ultimate setup. A Fender 400 PRO, or a Fender 800 PRO? Or, if there are any other suggestions, let me know about them too.

Some people call me crazy but I prefer the Bassman 250 over the 400. I think it has a rounder sound and is easier to get the sound I want. I generally play a '74 frettless Precision through it and the sound I get through either my full or half Bassman stacks is simply beyond compare for a solid state amp. It's plenty loud too. Cuts through both my loud drummer and guitarist with ease.

Fact is, you have to try them yourself. What's sweet to my ear may be trash to yours and visa versa.

Thanks for the reply. I had the chance to try the Bassman 250, but I went with the 400 PRO because it was on sale and I perferred it more than the 250. I originally wanted the 250, but for an extra fourty bucks, it got alomst double the wattage, and a rack tuner.

Like I said, you get what sounds best to you. However, the 400 isn't twice the wattage of the 250. The 400, which by the way has been discontinued, is only rated at 350 watts at 4 ohms, while the 250 at 4 ohms is rated at 250 watts.
