I personally like the Blues Deluxe. It offers the best clean sound and if you want to to add some distortion you can always get a pedal.

DRRI with a Fulltone Fulldrive Mosfet has the best overdriven tone! I've gotten so many remarks about the tone of my amp. I'm actually a drummer, and our guitar player uses my amp occasionally. He always says how he loves it and he's going to get himself one if he can find a used one. Right now, they're up to $950 at Guitar Center. Man prices are getting outrageous! I paid $727 for it just one year ago!

If you use a tube amp replace the 12AX7 in V-1 with a 5751. The 5751 is nicknamed the blues tube. SRV used them in his amps.

Chet, could you please tell me what position the V-1 tube is in the line up ? I have a Blues Jr. ....Thanks Joe

The '64 Viroverb Custom kicks serious butt for the blues, but it's expensive and really needs to be cranked to sound it's best. Not always feasible in a small club. My favorite small club amp is a Blues Jr, medium to large places I use my Hot Rod Deluxe, and outdoors it's the '64 AND the HRD.
Get the best tube amp you can afford, and like Supro et al. said, don't waste money on bells and whistles, that's what Jimi and Stevie used pedals for!
And for Gods' sake, enjoy the ride!

Some may disagree, but I have found that the Blackface Super Reverb is one of the best amps for playing electric blues and the like.

Hey! I have an idea. Why not work on being yourself! That is, find what works for you and enjoy it while making music.

HEY! I have an even better idea. Why don't you respond to a current post instead of dredging up something that has been dead for 4 years?

+1 on the '59 Fender Bassman, but I could get some great
bluesy tones out of my Rivera-era Concert amp.

Hi Guys,
I would like to know what is the best Fender amp I would need to buy to get the best bluesy / warm tone I can get playing my strat?

I plug my guitar so far in a mesa boogie F30. I love the sounds of it but I would like to find a more authentic sound...

Thank you for your advices!

Raphael

If you are looking for vintage, tube rectifier sag in a dual 6L6GC format --- maybe the Vibrolux Reverb or the Vibroverb. Of course these are the original Fender amps, not the re-issued ones. Just a thought.

What's to disagree with? The Super is a great blues amp. A tad loud perhaps but for the right venue ... give 'er!

.

Someone made mention earlier of Stevie using a couple of amps at once. Seems to me I heard of a story way back in the day that he was in the studio and ran 16 amps at once; all cranked.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
