Looks like the new street for the BJ is going up to $449. Which pits it interestingly against the new Class-A Crate V18 at the old BJ's price of $399.

So in this knock-down, drag-em-out battle for the bottom feeder tubescence crown, we have Fender's indisputable quality, excellent resale value, compact size and weight and signature BJ tone versus the V18's:

Class A

A cabinet roughly the size of the Blues Deluxe to eliminate the boxy low end of the tiny BJ. The BD has fantastic bottom end owing to its ideal-sized cab. Remains to be seen how this works in the V18.

More volume--Class-A watts are louder than class A/B watts.

THE WINNER????

You, the consumer, with more inexpensive quality tube amp choices than ever.

Unfortunately the price of everything is going up these days.

Yeah the DRRI just hopped up from $799 to $849. This allows more room for lo-cost competitors like Crate, Epiphone, Peavey, Kustom and Bugera to cherrypick customers in the lo-ball tube amp market.

Choices--always a good thing!

I run my BJ through a Avatar cabinet loaded with a 12" Hellatone. My guitar friends can't believe its a BJ until I point it out to them.

I ran my BJ through my 4-10" Marshall cab and I actually liked the BJ speaker better.

One Fender Blues Junior = $449

One Hellatone Speaker = $69

One Speaker Cabinet = $130

One B-stock DRRI for $649 = Priceless
