I'm thinking about buying a Super Champ XD, I Found one at store for $254.00 What i'm wondering, is this a good amp to play at low volume levels for praticing in my basement without bothering the rest of the house. Thanks! Harryv

That depends on how much you can resist the temptation to turn it up!

The SCXD does sound quite good at low volumes. But it will get loud!

15 watt tube amps can get quite loud, so you're not going to be able to dime the Super Champ and get that kind of tube breakup without alerting the neighbors. However, you could play it with the volume at 1 or 2 and it'd probably work.

The nice thing is with the difference voices, you'll still be able to get some tube breakup sounds.

I have a Vibro Champ XD, the five-watter, and I don't get the volume much past two in my house.

I use one at home, in a 2-bedroom apartment, and get good sound at lower levels without bothering the neighbors. most days anyway.

I use mine in a condo with someone downstairs. I usually run it at 2 - 3 and no one's complained yet. I've also had it out on my patio at similar volume and no complaints. And yep, it sounds decent at that volume, the major reason why I got it.
