I'm new to the forum and just purchased a Blues Deluxe amp yesterday. My goal is to get back into playing. I play guitar like I golf. Just for fun!!! I love the look and sound to this point. My question is about the volume controls on this guy. If volume is set to 1.5 and the guitar almost as low as it can go, I can stand to play and be in the same room. I'm presuming the volume control pots are non-linear. Any proven change outs so a person doesn't get their brains blown out and has some adjustablity? Seems like I don't have the ability to get any "effects" unless it is turned up and is WAY TOO LOUD for me.

I can work on most anything electronic, but would like some info if anyone has done this for great results.

Many thanks.

Aster

Hey Aster and welcome!

Let me first say that I am unfamiliar with the blues deluxe so what I'm saying here may not apply to your amp. If your amp has the Pre Amp Out to the Power Amp In then you should be good to go.

Changing out the pots would be very hard since they are soldered directly to the circuit board and since you just got it, would void the warrenty. What I did for my Fender Hot Rod DeVille 410 because I found it was the same way.... VERY LOUD in the house was to build one of these volume boxes that go from the Pre Amp Out to the Power Amp In from here: http://www.fortunecity.com/marina/newland/2081/id3.htm and works like a charm to crank the amp volume up but turn the volume down on the box which keeps that nice tube sound in the house.... :)

good luck and have fun!

Keith

Thanks Keith,

Thanks for the idea and the quick reply. I'll get on it. Maybe you have seen some better "basic" info on the forum about setting up the controls to get effects like distortion and so forth from the amp itself. The manual was okay with locating parts on the controls but nothing on settings. I know this is all to taste, but there has to be some " when you do this, that is the sound results" as a starting point and then you just have to dink with things alot.

Thanks again, and my ears/brains thank you!
