I have an FM212R that has never had any reverb since I have owned it. I can remove the reverb unit from the cabinet and tap the spring with my finger, and get great reverb, but as long as it is screwed into the cabinet, it does nothing no matter where I turn the knob. Anybody know how to fix this???

Sorry Sarge I can't help about it!

My Frontman 212R will come to my house in the next week, so I still don't have it here. But surely after reading your post I will ask to the dealer about this reverb issue.

I'll keep you updated!

Great. Let me know what you think of it so I can get my reverb working. Seems like a great amp, but reverb issue was a big dissapointment

Ok Sarge,

here we are!
My Frontman 212R is here with me finally. The spring reverb unit is working properly here, so I can't tell you anything useful. But when your ampli is still under warranty service then I advice you to ask for reparation or substitution of it. What do you think ?

You are supposed to have an input "transducer" that vibrates the springs and an output "transducer" that detects the vibrations...

Adding "reverb" puts more of the clean signal into the reverb unit and mixes the output back into the main amp...

Sounds like your input transducer either doesn't work or might not have a good connection/signal coming from the tone/reverb circuit...

If you are just hearing a crash from the springs and no music from the instrument that would be my best guess...

Checking with a small amp/speaker at the input of the reverb unit would tell the story... I have several small battery powered speakers I use for troubleshooting, but you could probably just use another amp (at low volume) and a guitar cable to see if there is any signal coming in...

Why not just purchase an inexpensive reverb pedal? (always audition before you buy)

While I think the clean tone of my Frontman 212R is fantastic, I do not like the tone of the 212R (AXL OEM) factory reverb ... too thin and metallic sounding, not like traditional Fender (accutronics) tanks.

Another option would be to replace the tank (make sure the amp is still providing output signal and processing the recovery/input signal) with an accutronics/belton unit. However, I have not been able to find a source to purchase a full sized, compatible 17" tank.

I got a FM212R from MF and I too experienced a loss of reverb. I called Fender and they wanted me to take it to a local Fender repair facility. There isn't one in NM. Fender then sent me a pre paid shipping label and I shipped it to the factory in AZ. In about 4 days I got a call confirming a non functional reverb. I was then told the Fender will REPLACE it rather than repair it. In about another four days I got a brand new amp. And I now have reverb and another 3 years remaing on my 5 year warranty.
Fender really went out of their way to help me out. That goes a long way in my book. I have since put a Bad Monkey in front of it and this amp rocks ! :D
