Personally, I would go with the military tubes. They're made to withstand more abuse, especially vibration. Soundwise, I have no idea, but should be exactly the same. Think of the military tubes as the same as the standard ones, only 'Heavy Duty'.

another ? .. the 12AX7 tubes I bought for my blues jr NOS sound weak and have way lower gain I got the same tubes dat the amp came wit which at sovtek 12AX7C tubes but the stock tubes are stamped wit groove tubes logo I didn't think der would be a difference if der were groovetube since the label under the logo was sovtek.. the new tubes I got were sovtek 12AX7C a macthed set and a high gain but I don't get the same gain dat I should as I do wit the stock tubes... any help or suggestion, thanks

I did some research and decided to use the stock tubes for both the 12ax7's and the el84's. That's what the amp was designed around. The 12ax7's are GT 12ax7R's, not 12ax7C's. Sovtek tubes are notoriously inconsistent. That's why Groove Tubes tests out the Sovteks and uses only the good ones. I use GT 12ax7R's. That's the same tube as a Fender GT12ax7. It's the stock tube.

As far as the power tubes are concerned, the stock tubes are Fender GT el84's. They are Sovteks that are tested and matched. They come in three different ratings. I don't know much about military tubes, other than they're not really popular. They're used more for Hi-Fi equipment.

Since I don't test my own tubes and I'm not a big tube expert, I just tend to use what the manufacturer uses.

Just my $0.02.

JJ's are matched and tested and they manufacture their own tubes. They're also a bit less expensive than GT's . TAD's and Winged C's are also great tubes. I never liked GT's at all and find them way overpriced and way over hyped. I have JJ's in my Twin and HRDlx and they sound incredible. I got them from www.eurotubes.com. Bob is a wealth of knowledge and is very helpful.

If you want Military tubes you get Jan Philips but they will cost you.

Depends on how much you want to spend...

Money isn't a issue- NOS RCA 12XA7's

When my tubes go out I plan on replacing them with Mullard 12XA7's and Mullard EL84's.
