The Deluxe VM amp says it has Blackface Fender clean. So would this be a clean enough amp to pair with a separate pedalboard effects unit like my Pod XT Live? Else, what's a good affordable amp for this?

I would think that should be perfect.

In general, for amp modelers, you want a clean power amp that is tube since no matter how amp modelers work they cannot currently emulate the warmth of true tubes.

yeah, I was thinking the same thing when I read the press release.

Personally I have had no success in finding an amp that works well with my POD X3L.

I have tried loads of great amps with it, but the combination with the pod just never worked for me.

To me the POD just sounds LOADS better direct into the PA and the AMPs sounded better without the POD.

So I bought a Blues Deluxe Reissue, which I love and use it without the pod.

Cheers

BMF

One thing to consider is whether your POD is applying speaker modeling too. If it does, you'll want to run the POD through a full frequency range amp and speakers (not a guitar amp speaker). If you run speaker modeling through a real narrow frequency range guitar speaker then you're kinda "double dipping".
