Well FMIC has made several improvements to the design, hopefully to the betterment of its reliability and durability. And it sounds like you've really worked to wring the best tones from yours with constructive tube rolling and a definite speaker upgrade. Other here have followed that same trail with mostly positive results to report.

Fortunately the FSR amp I bought came stock with the CRex.

I do not fool myself about the quality of my amp. I was able to do a side by side with my old Deluxe reverb. A 1967 AB763. (Lost it in a marriage). They are differnt amps and the vintage one does have better cleans. When I cranked them I liked mine better but, my speaker had something to do with the tone that I liked. Plus, the real deluxe has EH power tubes. I am not a fan of those tubes. I have TS 5881's in mine.

I would take back that amp in a heartbeat, if it were an option. There will never be one.

The option I have is to enjoy a modern version that I have. I can get it to do want I want. :D The reverb on this one sounds real good with the right tube.

Modwiz, I believe the reverb is IC driven, not tube driven unless they changed it in the III. Probably the overall change in tone made the reverb sound better. The reverb in mine was way too over the top for me. I built a reverb pedal that's like that. I'll probably mod that pedal to bring it in to where I like it. None of my amps even have reverb now and I really don't miss it at all.

+1, no changes to the reverb circuit. Op-amps for both the driver and the recovery stage.

DRRI here too. The Fritz mod is easy if you want reverb on the normal channel, which is a bit warmer. It just kind of stinks that we sometimes need to do speaker swaps right off the bat.

Thanks. I like to have my facts straight. I concluded, incorrectly, that having a tube for the reverb made it tube reverb. Changing the tube made the reverb nicer, that's for sure.

I have a Hall of Fame reverb that I really like and use it with my other amps. I like the reverb with the HRD and it is nice to not need a pedal for it.
