Any suggestions on travel amps. In this case it is just for practice and size does matter.

Since you didn't say how you travel -- I travel about 90% by car and 10% by train. In those cases, I find that my old Champ (and now the SCXD) go along quite nicely.

On the other end of the scale, I have an M-Audio device that plugs into my laptop USB port. The guitar plugs into the other end and it comes with some practice and simple recording software. Since I'd always have the lap on any trip, especially for biz, I've found that a useful solution as well.

I have a Roland Micro Cube and it has multiple effects built into it. I take my guitar and amp with me when I go to my cabin and with a bad back injury I have to be conscious of weight. This little amp packs a punch and its about the size of a car battery but only weighs a couple of pounds. It comes with a handle and can run on 6 AA batteries if you have no power source. Check one out at your music store, for $125 its well worth the money.

I travel mostly by air, and when it calls for 2 or more nights I carry a parlor acoustic. My Strat would be a bit easier to lug on board as the airlines are getting more controlling. Tried the Roland Micor cube and it has everything you might want from an amp and more considering its size. I am looking to try a Vox AC30 as well as it is the size of my cell phone and can be used with headphones.
thanks for your responses

Take a good look at the Jazz Master Ultra Lite. One of the best small, light, portable, really good sounding amps I have ever come across.

See http://www.fender.com/products//search. ... ultralight

Ciao,
Johnny.

Good suggestion. I had not thought of just buying a head to travel with. Very versatile choice.
