Your presumption is correct. You might try your backing track in the loop to see if there is any improvement in the sound. :idea:

I'm guessing that with multi-effects units, you're pretty much stuck going into the main input, right?
I have a Fender Deluxe 90 coupled with a Boss ME-80 multi-effects unit which has everything in one board....

Not necessarily, you can use the loop also, just a matter of which way sounds better to you.

But I thought any distortion and OD should go through the main input and mods and delay should go to the loop....I'm stuck because I can't split them up...

That is a generalization, and while that is the case most of the time, there is no law that says it has to be that way. As i said, whatever sounds best to you. :wink:
