Not sure one is better than the other. Just different speakers and thus slightly different tone. I found the NOS to be a little warmer than the standard BJ Never tried to Texas Red.

Hi

I have a Blues Jr Texas Red and love it! At first I was not so crazy about the color (I was trying to find a NOS, but no luck) At the music store we compared the Tolex and the Texas and the Texas Red sounded much better to me.

I'm very happy with mine :) and now I think the Red color is kinda cool.

Regards.

The only difference is the speaker and cosmetics. The pcb etc. is still the same. To me, none of the "special editions" are really special or better. It just depends on if your willing to pay a lot more for cosmetics and a speaker. To me it's how something sounds rather than how it looks. They really don't sound that much different to warrant such a big price difference.
My audience will compliment me if I'm playing well, but never complement me on how my amp looks.

Actually it was not a big price difference, only $75.00 more for the Texas Red amp.

For that amount the upgraded speaker was well worth it.

I play terrible and have no audience, but my amp looks sweet :D

Regards.

"upgraded speaker" is a opinionated term. The Jensen C12N that comes in the NOS is a upgraded speaker over the regular tolex Blues Junior but I am not sure you can call the Chelston Vintage 30 a upgrade over the Jensen C12N. More like a personal taste as to what sound you are trying to achieve.

I should clarify, I was not saying the Celiston was a upgrade from the Jenson C12N, of course not! I meant a upgrade from the regular Tolex speaker. Comparing the Tolex speaker with the Texas Red speaker, not the NOS.

The Texas Red model is not any form of a upgrade over the NOS model
just the regular Tolex.

Regards.
