Will I hurt my Frontman 212 if a play a bass through it? I'm not talking about gigging, just playing at my house at low volume. Would it sound ok, or do I really need to get a bass amp?

This has been answered before but the short answer is: get a bass amp. The circuitry and speakers in a guitar amp are not designed to handle bass frequencies so at best you get a bad sound. But at worst, if you slip on the volume one day, you get blown speakers. You can get small rehearsal bass amps for not much money -- they will probably sound better and definitely save your 212 from an accident.
