This has probably been answered already, but, can't find responses.
Will a tube preamp work with a FM 212 R solid state amp, or are we mixing apples and oranges?
I know, should have bought a tube amp in the first place...but, hey...I stopped playing in 1968 when there weren't that many choices. And, instead of doing some homework, I bought the first pretty face that came along. It says FENDER, what else do you need? :(

Boss has 2 pedals with dedicated Fender amp sounds.
A '59 Bassman (FBM-1) and a '65 Deluxe reverb (FDR-1).
The Legend Series.
They were designed with permission from Fender.
I'm waiting for my FDR-1 to be delivered, wanna use it on my
Fender Champion 600.
You'll find sound demo's on the Roland/Boss site.
Btw a tube pre-amp is a good idea to use with a solidstate amp.

I use an Ampeg SVTDI preamp/DI box in front of my solid state amp. At modest volume, I can hear the difference though it is a bit subtle. Same deal when I use it in front of my Bassman 210/250 with a bass.

There are several tube preamps that use two tubes but I haven't yet found one in stock at a GC to compare. I'd like to see if that gives more warmth and/or is still effective at higher volumens.

But the short answer is: yes, you get a benefit from a tube pre.

Thanks for the link -- I'm seriously considering buying one after listening to the demo vids. Assuming it was an honest demo, this box has a much more pronounced affect than either my Ampeg tube pre or a comparable ART TubeMP I use on the bass amp.

Thanks guys! Back in the day, a wah pedal and a screwdriver were about the only "effects" available. Oh, the screwdriver was to poke a hole in a speaker for that "Can't Get No Satisfaction" sound of the Rolling Stones. :D

I upgraded my tool kit circa 1971 -- got a fuzz box to drive adults crazy and a hammer to keep the drummer on time :)

Yes it seems like a cool product and those guys that did the review seem legit to me.
