I have a Super Champ XD, reading the instructions about the Line Out jack port, it says it is for your recording and sound reenforcement equipment.
Now I am new and fresh dumb here, could someone please tell me everything that would fall under the category of recording and reenforcement equipment? Thanks BF

for recording purposes, you have 2 options,,either run the line out into your mixer/recording interface.or you could mic the amp and record from the mic,,or you can do both an mix the signal.

playing a gig or live or whatever ya wanna call it,the line out would go into the soundmans mixer board and he would get you into the mix that way,and or,he could mic the cab ,maybe he'd want to mix the signals also.

you could also preamp another amplifier with the line out, using it like you would a effects prossessor.I do this with my champ ,preamping a crate vintage club 30 watt with a 12 inch speaker,,,i havent had to dust my music room because of this,i just open the windows and crank up the crate and watch it blow everything out of the room, including any visitors, mice or significant others

No, bananafingers, that is strictly an "out" signal jack. One of the few shortcomings of the SCXD is that there is no line in capability for inputting music to play along with....

Hi Wozzman, you said "you could also preamp another amp" and this is kind of what my question is referring to. I don't have much knowledge about this stuff and don't want to fry my amp or blow a fuse, so maybe you or somebody else can help me understand this a little better.

I have a Korg CR-4 that is a 4 track cassette recorder. It also has it's own built in combo amp with effects and amp models that you can record with, but obviously they pale in comparison to the tone I can get from the SCXD and I also wonder what the line out sounds like on the XD and so I want to know if there is a safe way to use these two together.

:?: Can I use a 1/4 cable from the SCXD line out into one of the guitar inputs of the CR-4 and record the SCXD that way?

What do I do about the Korg preamp (sound coming from the amp models and effects on the Korg), just dial the gain and effects on the Korg all the way off or something? Is the line out (signal output) from the SCXD so low that I don't have to worry about going into the guitar input on the Korg and messing something up? As you can see I really know nothing about this stuff and manuals are worthless. . .

Here are the specs for the CR-4 just in case you or anybody else wants to take a shot at this. I would appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks!!!

a line out is a safe level for input into a output device(amp,pa head, recorder etc)
as you said though, you would want to turn down all your gains and effex on the 4 trak korg and then run the scxd into it that way,,,
make sure all levels on both pieces of equipment are turned all the way down and off before hooking them together, then once thats done turn up the volumes slowly so as not to overdrive anything before you had a chance to adjust anything
this should work fine for you
just as a suggestion, have you thought about recording with a computer based program?these are much more efficient then a cassette recorder and you will have cd quality in all you record
the program i use is Ntrack Studio and the reason i mention it is cause it has controls just like a cassette recorder,so you could record right away without knowing too much,,your line out on your scxd would go straight into your computer and your ready to rock and roll
a mic'd amp always sounds better recorded vs the direct to device method,,,the recorded sound of a speaker is what you are seeking.
there are many many free to download and use recording programs,Ntrack is not free, but it is a real easy proggy to get used to
google recording proggys and see what ya come up with.this is just a suggestion and I dont mean to clutter your thoughts, but it is by far worth it to check into the world of computer based recording..unlimited amount of tracks can be recorded, all kinds of free effects that are available for download,,no tape hiss,no waiting for tape to rewind
you wont be sorry if you are serious about wanting to get the ideas from your head to disk
good luck

Hey thanks a bunch, I really appreciate all the help.

I got the Korg a few years back just for writing songs as a scratch pad, but I just wanted to give it a try with the scxd if I could because the amp models are so much better.

I probably won't even do it because I'm so paranoid, but it's nice to know that I can- if I can. I think I'll just look into some of that computer based recording- much better anyway and I won't have to worry about my amp. Thanks again!
