Does anyone know exactly how the tube is used? Is it actually an signal amplifying tube or a phase inverter for output to the class AB power section?

superchamp is class A isnt it. Therefore like my vibrochamp XD. I was informed on this forum that its used half for gain half to power the DSP section.

If I'm not mistaken, the VibroChamp is pure Class A, and the SuperChamp is a Class AB. I don't think you'd need s phase inverter on a Class A so the Vibro 12AX7 must be to amplify in the preamp.

The SuperChamp is a different story. I'm not sure it's to provide the overdrive dynamics of the preamp stage or purely as a phase inverter.

Your completely correct, its A/B. so the valve must be a phase inverter and the gain analogue or digital. The specs do state its a solid state distorion on the superchamp.

Perfect, and man is this ever an eye opener on the state of DSP in modern amps. Really makes you wonder about the CT SE.

Anyway, I got my answer and I still really like the smell of tubes burning!

Thanks
