I have a 1989 Champ 12 red knob, it's all original and works fine but the distortion side sounds kind of weak. I want a higher gain metal sound similar to a good Marshall stack at a lower volume. I was thinking of installing all the Torres mods. upgrading the tubes, and changing out speaker with a Vintage 30. Will this work or am I wasting time and money?

Try locating a Fender Authorized repair place in yer town.then you can go there and ask certain things and can expect a real answer, not a maybe.
I go to AngelTone in oshkosh wisconsin, its a 70 mile ride, but thats where I gotta go to get the real deal.but its worth it,,he would put in things and ask me what i thought,,,he'd put it on some kinda graph thing and tell me to play and we could see where the differences were.
Also if you want real vintage type custom hand made pickups goggle my man Ken at AngelTone Electronics.Hnads down the best Pickup for vintage replacement and sound, single coils /hummbuckers,bass pickups,,nobody does it like Ken,his pickups are magic and he builds it to your requirements
